Mubi Acquires Multiple International Territories On Na Hong-Jin’s Cannes Competition Title ‘Hope’

Mubi has picked up nan authorities to Na Hong-Jin’s latest feature, Hope successful Latin America, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Turkey, up of nan film’s debut successful Competition astatine this year’s Cannes Film Festival. 

The movie is written and directed by Na Hong-Jin, and stars Hwang Jung-min (Wailing), Zo In-sung (Moving), and Hoyeon (Disclaimer), alongside Michael Fassbender (The Killer), Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl), Taylor Russell (Bones and All), and Cameron Britton (The Umbrella Academy).

The charismatic synopsis reads: “In Hope Harbor, a distant colony adjacent nan Demilitarized Zone, constabulary outpost main Bum-seok receives alarming news from locals that a tiger has appeared. As nan colony erupts into panic, Bum-seok is forced to face a reality beyond belief.”

The movie was produced by Na’s accumulation banner, Forged Films and Plus M Entertainment. Plus M Entertainment is handling world sales. Neon has North American authorities to nan title, which marks Na’s return to Cannes. The filmmaker antecedently debuted The Wailing Out of Competition successful Cannes successful 2016; nan crime-thriller The Yellow Sea successful nan Un Certain Regard conception successful 2011; and his thriller The Chaser, Out of Competition successful 2008.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival runs from May 12 to 23.
