GOP lawmaker under House ethics review blasts 'baseless' investigation

The House of Representatives' soul watchdog is reviewing allegations made against a Texas House Republican, which he called "baseless" connected Monday.

Rep. Lance Gooden, R-Texas, is being probed by nan House Committee connected Ethics, according to an announcement released successful nan afternoon.

"These are bogus spending allegations perpetrated by dishonest unelected OCC bureaucrats, and arsenic nan 5th Texas GOP state of nan president to strengthen 1 of these attacks, I americium assured nan House Ethics Committee will corroborate their baseless nature," Gooden said.

The committee revealed it was extending a reappraisal of a "matter" reported to nan Office of Congressional Conduct (OCC) connected June 10, 2026, a preliminary measurement earlier deciding whether to motorboat a afloat investigation.
