Alex Murdaugh’s murder convictions overturned by South Carolina supreme court

The South Carolina ultimate tribunal connected Wednesday overturned nan execution convictions of Alex Murdaugh, nan disgraced South Carolina attorney, owed to “shocking assemblage interference” and ordered a caller proceedings successful nan 2021 sidesplitting of his woman and son.

In a unanimous opinion, nan justices said that “although we are alert of nan time, money, and effort expended for this lengthy trial, we person nary prime but to reverse nan denial of Murdaugh’s mobility for a caller trial” because of what they described arsenic “improper outer influences connected nan jury” by a tribunal clerk during nan trial, according to CNN.

Murdaugh, 57, was convicted by a jury successful 2023 for nan murders of his wife, Maggie, and his 22-year-old son, Paul. He received two life sentences. Separately, he pleaded blameworthy to financial crimes and is now serving concurrent authorities and national sentences of 27 and 40 years.
